Evolene is a charming village--many original homes, no tourist glitz, and the Hotel Hermitage is consistent--family owned, traditional. The staff were really helpful in discussing hiking options in the valley. The linens on the down pillows and duvet were remarkable. The hotel is geared to active folks--not a spa--but a pleasant and reasonable place to stay.

Hotel Hermitage is a heritage hotel, with a feel of 1900, and mostly built in wood. Our room, Nr 5, was spacious and we could sit outside on a large terrace. The hotel is located within the center of the village.
They only serve breakfast, neither lunch nor dinner. It's not really a problem since there are many restaurants in the neighbourhood.

It was just a bit old fashioned. Probably been the same since the 1920s.

Lovely feel to the hotel - it is quite small and feels very welcoming. It is situated near the centre of the picturesque village of Evolene - so near to several restaurants and boulangeries, but the area was quiet in the evenings. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cold breakfast (bread, jam, fruit etc.) provided. Gorgeous views up to valley and great mountain walks from the village.
Our room was a twin, and I think all the rooms for two people have twin beds (not a double bed). Coffee and tea is not provided in the rooms, but can be requested from the staff up to 9pm. Floor boards are quite squeaky, which was a shame when the people in the room above packed their bags at 5am (as happened our first morning)! Otherwise, the squeaks weren't too disturbing.

This hotel have charm, inside is very tradicional and is located on a valley in the midle of mountains...is a very beautiful! It's quiet and peacefull

Everyone was very friendly. The hotel is a bit dated but everything worked fine and was very clean. Beds were comfy. The hotel is right in the middle of the village, a couple of minutes' walking distance to restaurants and shops. But if you plan to go skiing you'll need a car.
